Portable Refrigeration: Making Festivals a Reality

We're sure you are aware that the UK will be home to dozens of outdoor festivals this summer. For example, the Party in the Park concerts hosted by local radio stations will cover nearly every major city from London to Cardiff to Edinburgh. And of course, don't forget the big-name festivals like Glastonbury and Jersey Live. It turns out that portable refrigeration rental is one of the things that makes all these festivals possible. After all, how much fun would a festival be without access to great food and drink? And that great food and drink would not be possible without on-site refrigeration capacity.

Running a 10K race is difficult enough when you are only dealing with your own physical limits. Nevertheless, a former soldier from Burnley is taking the 10K run to the next level by completing the course with a 30 kg refrigerator strapped to his back. Former army corporal Paul Tunstill will make his run on June 22 when he participates in the annual Pennine 10k challenge.

Industry Group Calls for Reduced HFC Consumption

Various world regulatory bodies have done a great job of regulating CFCs and HCFCs to the point of all but eliminating these from significant worldwide use. Now the European Fluorocarbons Technical Committee (EFTC) is calling for similar action where HFCs are concerned. The industry trade group believes the HFC cap and phase-out proposed by the Montreal Protocol is a good idea.

R22 refrigerant to be banned from January 2015

From 1 January 2015, R22 will no longer be allowed as a refrigerant in the UK. Reclaimed hydrofluorocarbons (HCFCs) will no longer be used for either refrigeration or air-conditioning systems manufactured, sold, or serviced here. This has lead experts to encourage refrigeration companies to start looking at R22 solutions right now. Many are already doing so.
